The thing I like about Edwards is that he understands poverty (having run the Poverty Center at UNC-CH) - and I believe poverty is the root cause of many of the problems we face in this country. My hope is that he wins, and he is allowed to be smart and use what he knows to truly make things better.

@ Ashley: I might look at it differently than most people, but I think Cheney has opened himself up to such criticism for the way he has remained silent on issues related to his daughter’s sexuality. This administration rode to victory by using homophobia to get evangelicals to the polls. Maybe Edwards could have acted with more finesse, but I think he was making an important point.

Mario–I was pretty surprised about that debate too, but you live and learn and I think John Edwards has learned a lot of lessons since then. It was a pretty low blow, asking Cheney if he loves his daughter….my mouth dropped open when he said that. It was probably one of those moments when you wish you could hop into a time machine and erase what you just said. But that was a long time ago.

Sorry, but after how Edwards handled the VP debate four years ago, I could never vote for him. Well, ok, maybe as a least bad choice.
