Jamie of I Must Be Dreaming tagged me with this holiday-themed questionnaire, so here goes…
1. Wrapping or gift bags?
I like to wrap gifts for the kids, so I can see them gleefully rip them to shreds. Bags are more convenient for adults.
2. Real or artificial tree?
Believe it or not, I’ve never had a real tree. My family always had an artificial tree, usually a small one. My partner wanted a live tree, but I worried that it might become a cat magnet.
3. When do you put up the tree?
I’ve been known to put the tree up really early - like two weeks before Thanksgiving. This year it was a day or two after.
4. When do you take the tree down?
I usually take it down as soon after Christmas as possible, because I get tired of it.
5. Do you like eggnog?
Never tried it. The fact that the name has “egg” in it is enough for me.
6. Favorite gift received as a child?
I remember an amazing large army helicopter that I got one year that I loved. One of the nicest gifts I ever opened was a $200 camera, which was big bucks for my parents in those days.
7. Do you have a nativity scene?
Yes. It sits proudly atop my entertainment center.
8. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
I can’t remember a bad gift, since it really is the thought that counts. (sniffle, sniffle)
9. Mail or email Christmas cards?
I mail cards. I actually have a document with a list of recipients, so I can keep up with who gets one (and who doesn’t).
10. Favorite Christmas Movie?
Probably A Christmas Story. It’s delightful.
11. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Honestly, like a week or two before Xmas.
12. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
My mom makes these delicious chocolate-coated peanut butter balls and my sister makes turtles (another chocolate-coated candy). I’d rather eat those than real food.
13. Clear lights or colored on the tree?
Multi-colored, but I prefer clear or a single color.
14. Favorite Christmas song?
“Beautiful Star of Bethlehem.” I’ll post the audio and lyrics later.
I’m not going to tag anyone, but feel free to participate if you desire.

I agree with you about #8. But when my aunt was losing her mind, she grabbed up everything in her bathroom, wrapped it, and gave it all away as Christmas gifts. My brother-in-law got a used stick of deodorant. I don’t remember what I got, but I’ll never forget the deodorant. He was very gracious about it, though, and gave her a kiss to thank her. Later on the way home, he was laughing so hard there was no noise coming out.
