Karen’s Hoopty

I was feeling glum on Sunday, so a movie outing with Karen was just the thing to lighten my spirits. We also had a great time laughing at her loaner car - a baby blue Caddy with gold-plated emblems and paneled interior. She’s been getting a kick out of driving it around town and I told her that we needed to get a picture with my cellphone for the blog. I think she’s waving, but she could just be trying to cover her face in embarrassment.

Jokes aside, I’m sure we all know someone who thinks this would be a classy ride if it was lowered, bowl-legged, and had an awesome sound system. I’m just sayin’.

From reading Karen’s posts here, I never had her pegged as a baby blue Caddy gal. Too bad it’s just a rental- the upgrade you described could really change a person’s life!

My priest-friend Ellen loaned me this ride. Her granddaddy’s dream car was this ‘88 baby blue Caddy and I’m sure he’s grinnin’ from heaven as I scoot around town.

For all the fun, I do miss my Adventuremobile. My little truck and I have been on so many back roads and byways…being apart for any amount of time is always agony. Having it in the shop always feels like I’m separated from a loved one.

How come awesomely cool cars like that are never around when I’m looking for one? Whenever I’m in the market for a car all I ever see are beige Toyotas.

Brian, just found your blog and your coming out story is absolutely beautiful, and horribly sad. Thank you for sharing.

@ MBMQ: That’s what made it so funny!

@ Karen: I’m sure you’ll be delighted to get the pickup back. In the meantime, roll down the windows on the Caddy and pump some hip-hop.

@ Wendy: Don’t pretend that you don’t have access to cool cars when you drive a MIATA. *grumble, grumble*

@ Jennifer: Thank you for commenting. I like your blog, too.

LOL. I can’t drive the Miata! I don’t do stick.
