There’s nothing I enjoy much more than a hot, steamy bath at the end of a work day. It’s the perfect way to relax and unwind, and also a great opportunity to listen to some tunes. My fantasy is to sit in the tub with Tori Amos while she serenades me with acappella versions of my favorite songs, but I’ll have to settle for the stereo for now.
Here’s the playlist that I often listen to while washing all my troubles away. All are by Tori.
- Putting The Damage On (Instrumental Version)
- Bliss
- Suede
- 1000 Oceans
- Mary
- Way Down
- Jackie’s Strength
- Parasol
- The Power of Orange Knickers
- Ribbons Undone
- Goodbye Pisces
- Hey Jupiter (Dakota Version)
By the time these songs have played through, my skin is as wrinkled as Robert Redford’s, but I’m totally and completely relaxed. If you aren’t familiar with Amos, I highly recommend that you check out her video of “Jackie’s Strength” to see what all the fuss is about.

Tori can’t make it to your bathtub Brian because she’s in mine
At least in my fantasy. Thanks so much for posting that beautiful picture of her. I’ve already professed my undying love for her but I will gladly say it again and again. She’s the only artist I know that sounds better live than on her CD. She’s so amazing *sigh*
@ Chris: I totally ’shopped that picture, because I couldn’t find one of her in the bathtub. I think it turned out pretty good for a 5 minute job!
I’ve seen her live twice, and was so close the first time that she touched my hand as the concert ended. That was probably the best show that I’ve ever been to… and I’ve been to quite a few.
Zang… you did a good job with that picture LOL. I’m either crazy gullible or you have skills. Let’s go with you have skills
I’ve seen her 2 times as well. The last time I got to see her, I was pregnant with my daughter (Emma) and I still think I nurtured Emma’s feminine spirit just from going. I’ve never been that close to Tori and I’m not sure if I could restrain myself if I was. I have a crazy girl crush on her and would probably ask her to make out with me. Dan would just have to understand. It’s Tori!
@ Chris: Hilarious, but totally understandable. I’d make out with her myself if given the opportunity (or at least give her a mani-pedi).
Brian, good job on the photoshop. I am laughing now that I know why my brain wouldn’t accept that image. I think it must be hard to find a pale enough body. But you get an A for effort!
The video for Jackie’s Strength is beautiful. Thanks for linking to it.
…hey now, don’t you be sayin’ nuthin’ ’bout Redford’s wrinkles…he’s still sexy!
@ fightingwindmills: There is something slightly off with the picture, and it’s not just the skin color. I think the head isn’t quite positioned correctly with the rest of the body. Oh well, at least it works for illustration purposes.
Glad you liked “Jackie’s Strength.” I find it addictive.
@ Karen: He used to be, but I just can’t see it now.
I must now pull out all the Tori I have. I haven’t listened to Tori in so long………
I would sit in the tub longer… until I heard her rendition of “Vincent (Starry Starry Night),” “China,” and “Winter.”
Excellent choices, Brian.
@ Alyson: Tori will always be a staple of my music diet. She’s timeless.
@ Sideon: Have you been to the website “Toriphoria”? I just discovered it and they have tons of rare downloads.

I’m melting. FANTASTIC site - thank you, thank you, thank you!
(Downloading “Vincent” as I type this.)
I’m giddy as a school girl.
@ sideon: You crack me up.
