John McCain Quotes About War

April 11, 2007:

“I understand the frustration caused by our mistakes in this war. I sympathize with the fatigue of the American people,” he told cadets at the Virginia Military Institute. “But I also know the toll a lost war takes on an army and a country. It is the right road. It is necessary and just.”

April 19, 2007:

McCain responded to a question about action against Iran by singing “Bomb, bomb Iran” to the tune of “Barbara Ann.”

January 3, 2008:

Q: President Bush has talked about our staying in Iraq for 50 years — ” (cut off by McCain)

McCain: “Make it a hundred.”

January 27, 2008:

“It’s a tough war we’re in. It’s not going to be over right away. There’s going to be other wars. I’m sorry to tell you, there’s going to be other wars. We will never surrender but there will be other wars.”

March 26, 2008:

“I hate war.”

I’ll leave you with one final, telling quote by someone other than McCain. It gives me chills.

February 6, 2008:

On NBC’s Today Show, Pat Buchanan remarked, “John McCain will make Cheney look like Gandhi.”

Getting chills doesn’t even describe it. That is downright scary.

Dude. *Pat Buchanan* said that? Like, uber-Christian, anti-abortion, anti-evolution, scarily conservative Pat Buchanan? Ummm… wow.

    @ ajerseyromance: I know…

@ Lena B: When I heard him say that on television, I was in utter shock. I had the same view of Buchanan that you described, so I couldn’t believe that he would say such a thing about the Republican candidate. Of course, this was early in the primary season and he was probably rooting for someone else.

this makes me want to throw up.

    you forgot this one:

May 2, 2008: “My friends, I will have an energy policy that we will be talking about, which will eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East that will - that will then prevent us - that will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East.”

    *shudder*

@ ashley: Notice how he can’t seem to get words out any better than Bush II? I hope we don’t have to listen to him stammer out stupidity for four years.
