Use Google SMS Instead of 411

I’m always one of the last people to hear about this kind of thing, but my sister just told me about Google SMS and I wanted to share it. Instead of using the expensive 411 feature on your cell phone, just text 466453 with a search string. For example, if you want the weather in Los Angeles, just enter “los angeles weather” and you’ll get current and forecast conditions for that city. You can easily do the same thing for restaurants, hotels, and other listings.

Go here to try out search strings to see all that you can do. Standard text messaging rates will apply if you don’t have a texting plan on your phone.

If you’d rather not text, then you can call Google for free information at 1-800-GOOG-411.

If you’d rather not text, there’s also 1-800-FREE411. We’ve actually got more listings (business, gov’t, residential) than the Google number (only business). Plus you can use our number for free text message driving directions. There are a couple 10-second ads, but they ensure the call is 100% free.

    Cheers,
    Jay
